Gahr Recap, Winter Parent Meeting, Veteran’s Day Rehearsal, & CIF
Please make sure to read all of this newsletter, there are lots of events coming up in the next few weeks, and it would be easy to miss something!
Gahr Recap
Yesterday, the Regiment of Gold went out for its last regular season competition of the year. The students have worked incredibly hard over the last few weeks finishing the show, and we put out the entire show for the first time! I’m so proud of the dedication and time that everyone has put in to making this an incredible show. The last few rehearsals this week were the best of the year, and we made so much progress.
At Gahr yesterday, we won 1st place in our division, won a caption award for best percussion, and secured the top seed in division finals among all 4A CSBC bands!
Oftentimes in our post-show reviews, the students are their own worst critics, and I have to remind them to make sure they should strike a balance between constantly striving to have the best possible run, with enjoying themselves and basking in the experience of having the privilege of doing something excellently and making great music. What a joy it has been to make great music with this group!
Veteran’s Day Rehearsal
This Friday, there is no school. The Regiment of Gold will be putting the finishing touches on our show, Mind Games, from 10-5 on Friday. It is essential that every member of the group is at this rehearsal, on time, and ready to work as we make one last push before Championships.
Football CIF Game this week!
Cerritos won their first CIF game against Fillmore by a score of 24-12! This means they will have another playoff game this week. They will be playing Western Christian from Upland. Right now, there is no date, time, or location scheduled for that game. An update will be sent out when there is more clarity about this game and the band’s involvement.
Winter Drumline and Winter Guard
If you plan on participating in Winter Drumline or Winter Guard, there will be a mandatory informational meeting this Thursday, November 9th right after rehearsal. We will discuss schedule, fundraising, program donations, expectations for the season, etc.
